Mission


The mission of the department of surgery is to provide excellence in undergraduate education and training of medical students, in addition to great emphasis on basic science and clinic research. We seek to graduate future doctors who are competent, safe, and who are patients advocate both at the hospital and the community levels.


OBJECTIVES


  1. To equip the student with the basic knowledge as well as psychomotor and affective skills related to the practice of different surgical specialities.
  2. To sharpen the communication skills of the students to be able to confidently evaluate the surgical problems with the patients concerned and with senior or junior colleagues.
  3. To support and encourage excellence in professional competence of academic staff through an effective continuing education programme, biomedical and clinical research and active participation at International Conferences.
  4. To be involved in community service, in quality patient care, in health policy evolution and community education.
  5. To support professionalism, as a critical measure of competence in medical education, by applying disciplinary action against unprofessional behaviour in medical school.
  6. To promote scholarship and research into disease and health with particular emphasis on problems common to Kuwait.
