Departments Medical Photography

Introduction

The Medical Photography unit was established in The Faculty of Medicine in 1979 with one chief technician to make teaching slides for academic staff. The unit started providing poster titles for academic staff during 1985 and with the advancement of technology and computer introduction now this unit can provide any size poster for presentation to the Faculty of Medicine staff and with limited quantity (due to our limited staff) to the other sister faculties of HSC. We have only one staff member for photography and one staff for videography, editing, copying and making & printing the posters for the staff of Faculty of Medicine. The unit started providing videography services in1995 and now doing this service to cover special lectures, seminars and conferences for the Faculty of Medicine and also for other faculties of HSC with some limitations. The unit did its best to make a photographic digital archive of all activities of the HSC by scanning more than 100 thousand negatives and now we are in a position to find photograph of any activity of the past history of the Faculty of Medicine since 1979.

Services

1. Research Posters: This unit is supplying all types of help through poster making and printing posters for Poster Conferences of HSC and for academic missions outside the state of Kuwait.
   
   
2. Videography of different ceremonies, conferences, lectures including copying different video formats to other digital formats for the Faculties of Medicine, and in limitation to Allied Health, Dentistry, Pharmacy and the Faculty of Public Health. Most of the video jobs are from the Faculty of Medicine. This includes the videography of International Conferences, Consultation Office Workshops, Annual HSC Poster Conference, seminars workshops of HSC and farewells, and many other programs organized by other Faculties of HSC (in limitations depending upon time and staff availability in our unit).
   
   
3. The unit provides personal images of more than 400 Staff of Faculty of Medicine to the administration for publishing Annual Staff-Student “Hand Book” every year. We also provide the images of Faculty activities to the Media Section of the Faculty for publishing in “Afaq”(Kuwait University Newspaper) and in local newspapers and other magazines.
