The Admission clinic is the gateway to the KUDC clinic. Screening consultations of new patients take place at the Admission clinic. The screening consultation includes a brief intraoral and extraoral examination for assessing the patient’s treatment needs.
Emergency Clinic provides urgent dental care to patients of record at KUDC. Emergency Dental treatment alleviates pain immediately and addresses acute problems such as infection and trauma.
The College of Dentistry student doctors in the CDC clinics provide routine dental care. The CDC clinics consist of 72 individual units, split into two, the North & South clinic.
Treatment done in the CDC clinics by the students will be supervised by the faculty mentors. From the treatment planning stage to the completion of comprehensive care, at each stage, as treatment progresses, mentors will examine, review and approve each procedure. All treatment needs of patients’ that fall within the scope of the educational program of the Faculty will be dealt with in the CDC clinics. The working hours of the CDC clinics are from 9.00 – 12.00pm and 2.00 – 5.00pm during weekdays.
There are four faculty clinics where faculty members treat patients who require more extensive or specialized dental care beyond the students' skills, and which may be used for educational purposes. The faculty clinics operate on an appointment basis on all weekdays from 8.00 am – 12 pm and 1.00 – 5.00 pm.
The primary mission of the surgery clinic at KUDC is to perform minor oral surgeries such as surgical extraction of fractured roots or impacted teeth and biopsy taking. The students in the CDC clinics carry out simple tooth extraction procedures under the supervision of clinical mentors or instructors. In contrast, OMF surgeons carry surgical extractions and more extensive surgery. One or two students will assist in each operation. The surgery clinics also operate on all weekdays 9.00 am – 12.00 pm and 1.00 pm – 5.00 pm.
