The Complete System:

Laser microdissection with PALM MicroBeam provides an intelligent tool in molecular analysis at DNA, RNA and protein levels, as it highly improves sampling of cell-specific tissue. Single cells can be captured in a completely contamination-free manner, and pure cells can be pooled1. Even if several hundred cells are needed, LMPC the cutting edge of PALM technology is the solution. The modular set-up of the PALM MicroBeam streamlines the sampling process for downstream microarray, genomics and proteomics work. Depending on the researchers’ needs, captured samples can be processed to individual specifications, thus opening a new dimension to the analysis of gene function. LMPC ensures contamination-free sample collection as the only noncontact technology with sample transport against gravity, and thus paves the way for reliable results

System Components:

• Axio Observer: Inverted research microscope from Carl Zeiss provides the ‎basis for microdissection. Developed to meet the needs of the most demanding applications. Brilliant optical quality with the high transmission ‎quality and high numerical aperture objectives perfectly suitable for laser microdissection.
• AxioCam: High sensitive Carl Zeiss digital camera, brilliant for every application
• PALM RoboMover: Different types of collection vessels can be chosen with the help of PALM RoboMover, individual caps or tubes, 8 Capstrips even microtiter plates.
• PALM Stage: Stage with the fast drive mechanism for rapid scanning and speedy navigation across the substrate.
• PALM Control unit: PALM ControlUnit runs and controls the movement of PALM RoboStage, energy- and focus adjustment and the laser. The key-switch also operates the mains for the components of your system. If you want to run single components as for example the computer, it is possible to connect these components directly to the mains.
• The actual status of the ControlUnit can be observed by LEDs on the front panel. PALM ControlUnit is equipped with up to 4 motor cards, according to the number of motors defined in your system configuration.
• FTSS laser (Frequency tripled solid state laser): wavelength 355 nm, pulse energy 100 μJ, pulse duration 1 nsec, pulse frequency 100 pulses per second beam divergence 3 mrad, frequency 50/60 Hz, voltage 115/230 V AC

The high beam quality theoretically allows nearly diffraction limited beam focusing. The laser is computer controlled and can be operated either automated with PALM RoboSoftware or manually with the foot switch. It is air-cooled, compact, sturdy, reliable, maintenance-free and requires only a common power supply.
