CHIEF TECHNICIAN

• The candidate will have to coordinate with the chairman of his/her scientific department to evaluate needs for equipments, consumables and other technical tasks in the laboratories.
• The employee shall be making external contacts with concerned authorities in the University to ensure provision of various needs of the laboratories.
• Coordinating and contacting academic staff members as regards preparation for lectures and various experiments.

CRITERIA FOR CHIEF TECHNICIAN

Candidate for Chief Technician post must have:

• University degree in the specialty or equivalent (ratified by Kuwait University) with 10 years’ work experience
• Or diploma in the specialty + 12 years’ experience
• Knowledge of laboratory scientific terminologies.
• Ability to deal with others.
• English language proficiency.
• Knowledge of methods & steps necessary for preparing materials & samples for teaching activities.
• Skill to use scientific equipment in the laboratory.

MINIMUM CRITERIA FOR ACADEMIC APPOINTMENT (ASSISTANT PROFESSOR)

A candidate applying for any academic post should satisfy the following minimum criteria:

1. Applicant must be a graduate of a recognized program of advanced education in the specialty.
2. In addition, applicant must be in possession of the highest specialty certificate issued by the national professional body in the country of training, namely:

• American Board in the specialty
• Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of the UK or Canada
• Doctorate in the specialty for the Nordic countries/Europe.
• Doctorate in the specialty for non-clinical posts

3. Applicant should show evidence of research and scholarly activities such as scientific publications in peer-reviewed, indexed journals.

APPOINTMENT AT THE RANK OF CLINICAL ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

In addition to the above minimum criteria for academic appointment, appointment at the rank of Associate Professor requires the following:

1. Completion of a minimum of 4 years at the rank of Assistant Professor.
2. A minimum of five full-length scientific publications since promotion to Assistant Professor
3. The candidate should be the only or the first author in at least three of these publications
4. Published material arising out of Masters or PhD theses may not be included for purposes of assessment for promotion
5. Evidence of teaching experience of undergraduates and/or postgraduates

APPOINTMENT AT THE RANK OF CLINICAL FULL PROFESSOR

In addition to the above criteria for appointment as Associate Professor, appointment at the rank of Full Professor should have:

1. Completed a minimum of 4 years at the rank of Associate Professor
2. A minimum of ten full-length publications since promotion to Associate Professor
3. The candidate should be the only or the first author in at least five of these publications
4. Evidence of academic, research, administrative and/or educational leadership roles is highly desirable

APPOINTMENT AT THE RANK OF NON-CLINICAL ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

In addition to the minimum criteria for academic appointment, appointment at the rank of Associate Professor (non-clinical) requires the following:

1. Completion of a minimum of 4 years at the rank of Assistant Professor
2. At least seven full-length publications since promotion to Assistant Professor
3. The candidate should be the only or the first author in at least four of these publications
4. Published material arising out of Masters or PhD theses may not be included for purposes of assessment for promotion

APPOINTMENT AT THE RANK OF NON-CLINICAL FULL PROFESSOR

In addition to the above criteria for appointment as non-clinical Associate Professor, appointment at the rank of non-clinical Full Professor should have:

1. Completed a minimum of 4 years at the rank of non-clinical Associate Professor
2. At least fifteen publications since promotion to Associate Professor, of which twelve must be full-length publications
3. The candidate should be the only or the first author in at least six of these publications
4. Evidence of academic, research, administrative and/or educational leadership roles is highly desirable
