Serandite

Serandite is a silicate which contains manganese with composition Na(Mn,Ca)2 Si3O8(OH). This sample is about 13x16 cm and described as Serandite with gray liefite and dated at 125 milion years. It is from Mont St Hilaire, Quebec, Canada. It is on display at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.

Serandite forms triclinic crystals with hardness 4 - 5.5.
