Joaquinite

This joaquinite sample is a silicate which contains barium and titanium but it has the additional distinction of containing the element cerium. Its composition is NaBa2FeTi2Ce2(SiO3)8O2(OH)H2O . The sample size is about 6x3.5 cm and it is from San Benito County, California. All these samples are on display at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.

Neptunite

Neptunite is is a silicate which contains titanium and manganese but it has the additional distinction of containing the element lithium. Its composition is KNa2Li(Fe,Mg,Mn)2Ti2Si8O24. It is from San Benito County, California. The single crystal sample at left is about 6x4 cm overall and the sample below is about 13x16 cm.
