Danburite

This sample of danburite, CaB2Si2O8, is on display in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. The sample size shown is on the order of 10 cm. The origin of this sample is Charcas, San Louis Potosi, Mexico.

This mineral is a silicate which contains calcium and boron.
