The ARC Mission

The mission of the ARC is to support researchers at the Health Sciences Center in their animal-based research by providing high quality animal housing and care and promoting high ethical standards of animal use.


The objectives of the ARC are:

  1. Provide good quality experimental animals necessary for good quality research.
  2. Facilitate the acquisition of internationally available animal models by researchers.
  3. Ensure that animal use and handling procedures comply with the standards of the International Council of Laboratory Animals Sciences.
  4. Conduct workshops to train and certify researchers and students for proper animal handling and ethical practices.
  5. Provide help and expertise in conducting specific experimental procedures upon official request.
