Niobium

Niobium and tantalum commonly occur together in the iron -containing minerals columbite (FeNb2O6) and tantalite (FeTa2O6). Niobium is found in the mineral aeschynite.

Niobium finds use as a constituent of alloy steels.

Niobium finds important application as a superconductor, particularly in combination with tin.
